Elon Musk attends White House state dinner for Saudi Crown Prince

(MENAFN) Elon Musk made a high-profile return to the White House on Tuesday evening, attending a state dinner in honor of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The appearance marked the tech billionaire’s first major visit to the East Room after months of public friction with US President Donald Trump.

The black-tie event drew a heavyweight roster of political figures and business leaders, according to a report by Newsmax. Among those in attendance were Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, First Lady Melania Trump, and House Speaker Mike Johnson.

The guest list also featured prominent international personalities. Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo attended the dinner, briefly becoming part of the president’s remarks. Trump noted that he had introduced his son, Barron Trump, to the striker earlier in the evening. Opening his speech, the president declared: “This room is loaded up with the biggest leaders in the world.”

Musk’s return follows earlier rift over sweeping policy bill
Musk’s presence stood out given his very public dispute with the administration in June over Trump’s sweeping reconciliation proposal, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The clash ultimately ended Musk’s informal role leading federal downsizing efforts at the self-styled Department of Government Efficiency and led to a round of sharp criticisms between the two on social media.

Although Musk and Trump were later seen together at the September funeral for conservative activist Charlie Kirk, Tuesday’s state dinner was his first appearance at a major White House function since the dispute.

A day of ceremony and symbolism
The dinner followed a full day of elaborate ceremonial events. Earlier on Tuesday, Trump welcomed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the South Lawn with military honors, including a marching band, a horseback escort, and a fighter-jet flyover—underscoring the importance the administration placed on the visit.
