Jordan’s Namrouqa heads Jordan delegation to UN forum in Riyadh
In her speech at the forum, Namrouqa remarked, “the world is burdened by escalating crises—moral, humanitarian, environmental, and geopolitical. Nowhere are these crises more evident than in our region.” She further emphasized, “We must raise our voices to demand accountability. We must act collectively to establish justice, preserve human dignity, and end the humanitarian catastrophe.”
Namrouqa highlighted Jordan’s belief that a nation’s ethical direction is shaped by its capacity for coexistence, according to reports. She also underscored the country’s longstanding dedication to interfaith dialogue, beginning with the Amman Message in 2004, which affirmed Islam’s commitment to peace and unity; followed by the 2007 A Common Word initiative that fostered engagement between Islamic and Christian perspectives; and culminating in the World Interfaith Harmony Week, a Jordanian proposal adopted unanimously by the United Nations General Assembly.
The forum brought together a broad spectrum of participants, including senior United Nations officials, ministers, religious and political leaders, heads of international organizations, and civil society representatives. Its purpose was to evaluate the progress of twenty years of global dialogue, examine ongoing challenges, and consider future collaborative efforts aimed at fostering mutual understanding and supporting international peace and stability.
